Affiliate Disclosure

In plain language: SafeNest Senior earns a commission when you click certain links on this site and make a qualifying purchase — at no extra cost to you. This page explains exactly how that works, which companies are involved, and — most importantly — what it does not influence.

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) requires publishers to clearly disclose financial relationships with the companies they write about. We’d disclose this even if it weren’t required, because a reader who doesn’t know we earn money from certain links can’t properly weigh what they’re reading. This page is that disclosure, in full.

How Affiliate Links Work

When you click a link on SafeNest Senior that leads to a company we’ve reviewed — for example, Bay Alarm Medical, Philips Lifeline, Medical Guardian, MobileHelp, or Life Alert — that link may be an affiliate link. If you go on to purchase a subscription or device through that link, the company pays us a commission. This is standard practice across the review-publishing industry, and it’s how many independent sites, including this one, fund the cost of research, writing, and device testing without charging readers directly.

Commission rates are set by each company individually, are subject to change without notice, and are not something we publish here, since they fluctuate and we don’t want this page to go stale with outdated figures. What matters more than the exact rate is the next section.

What Affiliate Revenue Does Not Influence

Our commitment, specifically

  • Scoring: Our SNS Score is calculated from evaluation data against the five published pillars on our Editorial Standards page — fall detection accuracy, response time, false-positive rate, customer service, and pricing transparency. Commission rate is not one of those five pillars and is never added to the formula.
  • Ranking order: If a product that pays a lower commission scores higher than one that pays more, the lower-commission product is still ranked higher. We check scores before we check commission rates, not the other way around.
  • Which products we cover: We do not accept payment to review a product, and we do not exclude a product from coverage because it doesn’t have an affiliate program.
  • What we say about a product: Negative findings — including entire “who should NOT buy this” sections — are published even when they reduce the likelihood of a reader clicking through and purchasing.

We’re aware that “trust us” isn’t a satisfying answer on its own. That’s why our full scoring methodology is published, in detail, before any device is evaluated — see Editorial Standards. You’re welcome to check our published rankings against that formula and hold us to it.

Companies We Currently Have Affiliate Relationships With

As of this page’s last review date, SafeNest Senior participates in affiliate or referral programs with the following companies, all of which appear in our published evaluations:

Bay Alarm Medical
Medical alert systems & fall detection
Philips Lifeline
In-home medical alert systems
Medical Guardian
GPS & mobile medical alert systems

Cellular medical alert systems
Life Alert
Traditional landline medical alert systems

This list reflects our current partnerships and may change as we add or remove companies from our evaluation set. We do not retroactively rewrite past rankings to favor a newly added partner.

How to Identify an Affiliate Link on This Site

  • Every page containing affiliate links displays a disclosure notice near the top of the page, before any product recommendation — not buried in a footer.
  • Affiliate links on this site are technically marked with rel="nofollow sponsored" in the page code, in line with Google’s guidance on sponsored content and FTC disclosure expectations. This doesn’t affect what you see as a reader, but it’s part of how we stay compliant.
  • Links that route through /go/ on this domain (for example, safenestsenior.com/go/bay/) are affiliate redirect links that forward you to the company’s official site.

Cookies & Tracking

Affiliate links use tracking technology (typically a cookie or a similar identifier) so that the company you’re referred to can credit SafeNest Senior if you make a purchase. This tracking is managed by each affiliate network or company individually — we do not control how long their tracking window lasts, and we don’t want to publish a specific duration here that could be inaccurate or change without our knowledge. If you have questions about a specific company’s tracking practices, their own privacy policy is the authoritative source. For how SafeNest Senior itself handles data collected directly on this site, see our Privacy Policy.

Why we publish this page at all We are not a neutral third party with zero financial stake in your decision — no affiliate publisher is, regardless of what their homepage claims. What we can offer instead is a transparent account of exactly where our incentives sit, a published methodology you can check our work against, and an honest invitation to compare our findings with other independent sources before you decide. Read the raw methodology. Make your own call.

Questions About This Page

Does clicking a link cost me anything extra?

No. The price you pay is the same whether you use our link or go directly to the company’s website. The commission comes out of the company’s marketing budget, not from an added charge to you.

Do you review products you don’t have an affiliate relationship with?

We can, and our evaluation criteria don’t require an affiliate relationship to exist. In practice, our current published rankings feature companies we do have a relationship with, because our evaluation set was built around the most commonly searched medical alert systems, most of which offer affiliate programs.
